Lise Gotell is the Landrex Distinguished Professor in the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies. She has served as National Chair of the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund, Vice-Dean and Acting Dean of Arts, as well as Chair of Women’s and Gender Studies. Her research interests include criminal law reform as strategy, the evolution of the Canadian legal standard for sexual consent, public policy on violence against women, freedom of expression challenges to obscenity law, and equal rights litigation. Gotell is also an award winning teacher, having won the Rutherford Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2011.
