Anna Lund, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Alberta, will discuss how housing is a basic necessity. Earlier this year, the federal government recognized that it “is essential to the inherent dignity and well-being of the person and to building sustainable and inclusive communities.” Yet it is not explicitly protected in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Come hear about a series of cases that have argued that protection for the right to housing is implicit within the other sections of the Charter.
